fire-solid   Aiven security news
(4 min read)

What a month for security issues, huh? Like many security teams around the world, we were kept pretty busy, and thought you could all use an update on what we’ve been doing about these incidents.

Read the blog post from our CISO James Arlen about:

  • Grafana 0day path traversal
  • Log4j / Log4shell RCE vulnerability

On a separate note, we want to give Kudos to all the OSS developers who worked hard to fix the Log4Shell vulnerability in record time. We know that you’re doing difficult things under pressure, but working together makes everything better 💚

wrench-gradient  Preparing Apache Kafka for Scala 3
(4 min read)

More news from the Open Source Office! Our OSPO team recently did an experiment to migrate Apache Kafka to Scala 3.

Apache Kafka is a distributed event streaming platform, and it's open source. This blog isn't about the cool things you can do with it; this time we talk about Kafka's internals. Specifically, we discuss one of the latest tasks carried out at Aiven's Open Source Program Office: migration of Apache Kafka to Scala 3.
Find out how our team did it and what lessons they learned!

(2 min read)

Dynamic Disk Sizing is now available in Aiven services! 💿

Sometimes, you might need more storage without needing to scale up everything else as well. With this new feature, you can now create a more personalized plan, adjusting the disk space based on your actual needs.

Our customers can now book additional storage for Aiven for PostgreSQL, Aiven for MySQL and Aiven for Apache Kafka plans directly in the Aiven console.

rocket-solid  Aiven gives back

The end of the year is a time for gratitude and giving back. To celebrate this year’s holidays, we’re donating €50,000 to charity.

Our Aiveners nominated and voted for 18 charities working in humanitarian, environmental, educational, equality, and human rights areas, such as
Go Give One / COVID-19 vaccines, Greenpeace, Team Seas, Doctors Without Borders and others. Check out the full list of charities on
LinkedIn.

A massive thanks to all our customers - you’re the reason we’re able to follow the most important holiday tradition - giving back.
