Your data, our infra - a match made in the clouds
We provide open source data infrastructure in the cloud so application developers don’t have to build their own. They can focus on creating awesome applications instead!
All your favourite open source services and tools are ready and waiting for you to deploy on the cloud of your choice. Just pick your services, integrations, cloud providers and storage needs, and you're good to go. By using data infrastructure provided by Aiven, you can take a flying leap into the cloud with your data and start coding apps. |
| Our big news: Aiven becomes a unicorn! (2 min read)
Just seven months after Aiven's successful $100M Series C funding, we're thrilled to announce a further $60M extension to that round at a $2B valuation - Making Aiven the latest Nordic unicorn. 🦄
Read the blog from our CEO Oskari Saarenmaa, where he shares his thoughts and what this means for Aiven. |
| OpenSearch launch (2 min read)
At Aiven, we ❤️ open source – and we’ve just launched Aiven for OpenSearch, a truly open alternative for Elasticsearch
users.
If you’ve been worried about licence changes to Elasticsearch, you can upgrade to Aiven for OpenSearch easily, keep all the same features, and regain control of your data – without any licensing costs. |

Our roots are in the open source communities as creators and maintainers. Our Aiveners publish and maintain half a dozen projects and connectors through our Open Source Program Office. Here’s some cool bits we wanted to brag about:
Karapace - your Kafka essentials in one tool One of our projects is Karapace - an open source tool which serves as a 1:1 replacement for Kafka REST and Schema Registry. Get it from GitHub!
Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) As part of the Aiven open source program, we help developing open
standards for the internet by participating in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) to work on writing RFC standards. For example, Aiven actively collaborated in the production of Libreswan.
Support for Legacy (now called Identity) MirrorMaker Support for operating Mirror Maker 2 in migration mode. It means users can easily migrate to the newly and improved Mirror Maker 2 and slowly apply the needed changes to use the new features.
Cleaning up the attic Time to
repay some of the accumulated technical debt!- Migrate TaskMetadata and ThreadMetadata to an interface with internal implementation
- Remove Deprecated Methods under StreamsMetrics
- Update Scala fmt library and apply fixes

Monitoring and graphs go together like milk and coffee. Our latest tutorial shows how you can use M3 to monitor your systems, and Grafana to make the results easier to understand. |

| In our newest case study, Nick from JobCloud talks about how they implemented an event-driven architecture with Aiven. JobCloud has the biggest job boards in Switzerland, and Aiven for Apache Kafka has been helping them leverage their old infrastructure and add elements with no downtime and sustained performance. |

| Fun things around the web Our developers team combs the internet on a daily basis to find the most interesting tech tools / tech reads. Take a look at their nerdy picks:
- We have a new favorite text-based tool for working with Apache Kafka, it's called kcat!
- It's always interesting to see the top databases in the StackOverflow survey listing. Our favorite open source databases feature highly as usual - but is yours there?
- Moving from a relational database toward an event-driven architecture can offer tremendous benefits. InfoQ put out a very pragmatic writeup on introducing the magic bullet we call Apache Kafka into an existing setup.
