Providing better visibility into bugs and vulnerabilities is one more way to support the communal spirit of open source 💚 | | Linux® kernel vulnerability (2 min read)
On 7 March
2022, we became aware of CVE-2022-0847, also known as "Dirty Pipe". This vulnerability allows an unprivileged local user to write to pages in the page cache backed by read-only files. They could use this to increase their access to the system further by
enhancing their privileges. Aiven's CISO writes about our mitigating actions. | | Census II of Free and Open Source Software - Application Libraries
Produced in partnership with Harvard Laboratory for Innovation Science (LISH) and the Open Source Security Foundation
(OpenSSF), where Aiven is a member, Census II is the second investigation into the widespread use of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS).
It aggregates data from over half a million observations of FOSS libraries used in production applications at thousands of companies, and aims to shed light on the most commonly used FOSS packages at the application library level.
You or your company can use this report to identify critical FOSS packages and prioritize your efforts for the open source projects that you might want to contribute to. |
| | | Our team of devoted open source enthusiasts is actively publishing and promoting new projects each month. Read some of their highlights: - Watch this Panel discussion on everything Open Source Program Office (OSPO), with VM Brasseur (Wipro), Per Ploug Krogslund (Spotify), and Josep Prat (Aiven) - hosted by our Developer Relations Advocate Floor Drees.
- A great example of how our OSPO members collaborated on an external problem and found a clean solution for function IDs in query explanations!
- Why should your boss create an OSPO (Open Source Program Office) at your company? Josep Prat, our Open Source Engineering Manager, believes this question deserves a proper answer. Read his article in TODO Group's blog.
